AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS by HP LOVECRAFT – Read by RICHARD COYLE – ABRIDGED – 2hrs 30mins – DOWNLOAD ONLY – BBC Radio 7/Ladbroke Productions/Spokenworld Audio

“At The Mountains of Madness” tells the first-person tale of geologist William Dyer, a professor from Miskatonic University in the USA. He writes to disclose hitherto unknown and closely kept secrets in the hope that he can deter a planned and much publicized scientific expedition to Antarctica. For he has been there and seen the unimaginable horrors that lay beyond the mountains. “At The Mountains of Madness” was written by HP Lovecraft in 1931, originally a serialised story published in Astounding Stories magazine in the US. While considered by fans to be part of the Cthulhu Mythos stories that HPL is most famous for, some academics argue that the author was actually ‘demythologising’ much of his earlier work. Whichever it is, the story is massively popular, and there are talks of a movie adaptation by Steven Spielberg and Guillermo Del Toro in the offing.  This 2010 adaptation comprises 5 episodes, originally aired on BBC Radio 7, and offered here in exclusive EXTENDED EDITIONS. You will find an additional 30 mins of terror-filled audio within these five episodes!

TBA DOCTOR WHO AUDIOBOOK – Read by TBA – DOWNLOAD ONLY – AudioGo/BBC Audiobooks

Sadly I can’t tell you about this one yet, but it’s a great DW story by a familiar DW writer and read by a fantastic DW actor.  I believe it is released in March 2011

So…that’s my 2010, in audiobooks.  Not a bad haul, I hope you will agree.  Do please check them out if they tickle your fancy.  The Doctor Who’s and SJA’s are particular faves of mine, as are the titles for Spokenworld Audio (especially At The Mountains of Madness).  Another year wraps up, and at some point I’ll have to list the BBC Radio programmes we also made in 2010…it’s been a busy year.

Keep supporting audiobooks and do lemme know what you thought about any of the titles above.

Thanks to all the writers, readers, fellow producers and editor, to the people who bought and listened to the audiobooks, to my business partner Paul, to my fiance Tanja, to Michael & Kate and all at AudioGo, and to everyone who is proud to be an audiobook fan!

Happy New Year one and all 🙂

Neil G 🙂
