Year of the Flood 12 CD box-set

Margaret Atwood’s latest novel “The Year of the Flood” is being released by BBC Audio as a 12 CD unabridged reading box-set.  Read by Lorelei King, it was produced and edited by…well, by me!  Huzzah!  Here’s what it’s about:

“Adam One, the kindly leader of the God’s Gardeners – a religion devoted to the melding of science and religion, the preservation of all species and the tending of the Earth – has long predicted the Waterless Flood. Now it has occurred, obliterating most human life. Two women have avoided it: the young trapeze-dancer, Ren, locked into the high-end sex club; and former SecretBurgers meat-slinger turned Gardener, Toby, barricaded into a luxurious spa. Have others survived? And what are the odds for the human race? By turns dark, tender, violent, thoughtful and uneasily hilarious, The Year of the Flood is Atwood at her most effective.”

Lorelei King - goddess of reading!

Lorelei was fantastic to work with, we recorded the entire 12 CDs in 4 days at Electric Airwaves radio studio in Central London, and I then edited the set down to its final 14 and a bit hours running time at my home editing suite in Croydon.  The story is split in to chapters and ‘sections’, each section starts with a lesson from Adam One and then a hymn…but instead of having Lorelei read these hymns out, we have fully composed and sung versions which range from gospel to country to rock, its all rather fabulous!

The book is already out, and the audio version is released on September 17th.  You can buy it from book stores, online at the BBC Shop, Amazon, etc… or as a download from iTunes.  Links are here:
